Isaiah 16:9-11

9Therefore aI weep with bthe weeping of Jazer
for the vine of Sibmah;
I drench you with my tears,
O Heshbon and Elealeh;
for over cyour summer fruit and your harvest
the shout has ceased.
10 dAnd joy and gladness are taken away from ethe fruitful field,
and in the vineyards no fsongs are sung,
no cheers are raised;
no gtreader treads out wine hin the presses;
I have put an end to the shouting.
11Therefore imy inner parts moan like a lyre for Moab,
and my inmost self for Kir-hareseth.

Jeremiah 8:18-19

Jeremiah Grieves for His People

18 My joy is gone; grief is upon me;
Compare Septuagint; the meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain

kmy heart is sick within me.
19Behold, the cry of the daughter of my people
from lthe length and breadth of the land:
“Is the Lord not in Zion?
mIs her King not in her?”
n“Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images
and with their foreign idols?”

Jeremiah 9:10

10 “I will take up weeping and wailing for the mountains,
and a lamentation for othe pastures of the wilderness,
pbecause they are laid waste so that no one passes through,
and the lowing of cattle is not heard;
qboth the birds of the air and the beasts
have fled and are gone.

Jeremiah 9:18-19

18let them make haste rand raise a wailing over us,
sthat our eyes may run down with tears
and our eyelids flow with water.
19For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion:
tHow we are ruined!
We are utterly shamed,
because we have left the land,
because they have cast down our dwellings.’”

Jeremiah 13:17

17But if you will not listen,
umy soul will weep in secret for your pride;
my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears,
because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

Jeremiah 17:16

16I have not run away from being your shepherd,
nor have I desired the day of sickness.
vYou know wwhat came out of my lips;
it was before your face.

Jeremiah 48:31-36

31 xTherefore I wail for Moab;
I cry out for all Moab;
for the men of yKir-hareseth I mourn.
32More than for zJazer I weep for you,
aaO vine of abSibmah!
acYour branches passed over the sea,
reached to the Sea of adJazer;
on your summer fruits and your grapes
the destroyer has fallen.
33 aeGladness and joy have been taken away
from the fruitful land of Moab;
I have made the wine cease from the winepresses;
no one treads them with shouts of joy;
the shouting is not the shout of joy.
34 afFrom the outcry at Heshbon even to Elealeh, as far as Jahaz they utter their voice, from Zoar to agHoronaim and Eglath-shelishiyah. For the waters of Nimrim also have become desolate. 35And I will bring to an end in Moab, declares the Lord, him who offers sacrifice in ahthe high place and makes offerings to his god. 36Therefore my heart moans for Moab like a flute, and my heart moans like a flute for the men of aiKir-hareseth. ajTherefore the riches they gained have perished.
